Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Trivandrum, an Institution of National Importance, has invited online applications for the post of Project Research Scientist II (Non-Medical). The position is for an ICMR-funded project focused on Alzheimer’s disease research.
Vacancy Details
- Post Name: Project Research Scientist II (Non-Medical)
- Total Vacancies: 01 (SC Backlog). Note: In the absence of an eligible SC candidate, an eligible Unreserved (UR) candidate will be considered.
- Project Title: “Analysis of TREM2 variants associated with AD in Indian Cohorts and functional assessment of Phagocytic efficiency, Inflammatory Signalling and Metabolic Switch in iPSC derived microglia.”
- Tenure of Appointment: Temporary (purely on contract), initially for a period of one year (likely to be extended) or till the completion of the project, whichever is earlier.
- Pay Scale / Remuneration: ₹ 67,000/- + 20% HRA per month

Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification (Essential): PhD in Biotechnology/Biochemistry or in related fields of Biological Sciences.
- Experience (Desirable):
- Experience in growing or maintaining mammalian cell culture, specifically stem cell lines such as human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) or induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). OR
- Any experience in genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9, molecular cloning, transfection, routine molecular biology, immunocytochemistry, and imaging techniques.
- Additional experiences including Sanger sequencing, PCR, confocal/fluorescent microscopy, flow cytometry analysis, etc., are desirable.
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a demonstrated record of scientific productivity (e.g., publications in good journals).
- Age Limit: 40 years as on 01.08.2025.
- Other Criteria: Caste Certificate for SC candidates should be valid and in the prescribed format for Central Government employment, issued by a Revenue Officer not below the rank of a Tahsildar.
