Odisha Police Recruitment 2025: 135 Gurkha Sepoy Vacancies Open in OSAP 2nd Battalion, Jharsuguda!
Applications are invited from willing Gurkha male candidates settled in India or Nepal for the post of Gurkha Sepoy in the Odisha Special Armed Police (OSAP) 2nd Battalion, Jharsuguda. This is a significant opportunity to join the Odisha Police force. The application must be submitted offline in the prescribed format.

Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality & Domicile: A candidate must be a bonafide Gurkha and an inhabitant of Nepal or India.
- Gurkha candidates residing in India must have a Residential Certificate and a bonafide Indian Gurkha certificate from a recognized organization.
- Gurkhas of Nepal must possess a valid Citizenship of Nepal.
- Educational Qualification:
- Minimum: Must have passed Class-VII or equivalent examination from a recognized institution.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have passed H.S.C. or equivalent examination. Marks will be awarded based on the division obtained in H.S.C.
- Age Limit: Between 18 to 25 years as on 01.01.2025. Age relaxation is applicable for Ex-Army personnel as per existing rules.
- Physical Standards:
- Height: Minimum 158-159 Cms. Marks are awarded for taller candidates.
- Weight: Minimum 50 Kgs.
- Chest: 79 Cm (Un-expanded) to 84 Cms (Expanded), with a minimum expansion of 5 Cm.
Selection Process
The selection process will include the following stages. Marks will be awarded for educational qualifications, physical measurements, and performance in some physical tests.
- Physical Measurement: Height will be measured and marks will be awarded as per the standards.
- Physical Test:
- 1.6 Kms Run: To be completed within 6 minutes to qualify. 1 mark for completing within 4 minutes.
- Cross Country (5 Kms): To be completed within 40 minutes (Qualifying).
- Broad Jump: 3.66 mtrs in three chances (Qualifying). Marks for 1st and 2nd clearance.
- High Jump: 1.22 mtrs in three chances (Qualifying). Marks for 1st and 2nd clearance.
- Sports Achievement: Up to 10 marks for achievements in specified sports events.
- Viva-Voce Test: 10 marks for candidates who qualify in the physical tests.
- Odia Test: Gurkha candidates are exempted from the Odia test at the time of recruitment but must pass it within 3 years of service.
