• Pay Scale / Remunération:
  • Assistant Librarian: Rs. 56,100 – 1,77,500 (Level-10)
  • Laboratory Technician (Computer & Civil): Fixed salary of Rs. 40,800/- per month for the first five years.
  • Laboratory Assistant (Civil & Mechanical): Fixed salary of Rs. 26,000/- per month for the first five years.

Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification:
  • Assistant Librarian: A Master’s Degree in Library Science /Information Science / Documentation with at least 55% marks.
  • Laboratory Technician (Computer): Minimum 50% marks in Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering/Computer Applications OR Minimum 50% marks in Diploma in Computer Engineering/Information Technology/ICT.
  • Laboratory Technician (Civil): Minimum 50% marks in Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Branch OR Minimum 50% marks in Diploma Engineering Degree in Civil Branch.
  • Laboratory Assistant (Civil): Minimum 50% marks in Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering OR Minimum 50% marks in Diploma engineering in Civil Engineering.
  • Laboratory Assistant (Mechanical): Minimum 50% marks in Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering OR Minimum 50% marks in Diploma engineering in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Note: All posts require a certificate of basic computer knowledge and working knowledge of English, Gujarati, and Hindi.
• Experience:
  • Assistant Librarian: At least 5 years’ experience in a University/College Library.
  • Laboratory Technician (Computer/Civil): Minimum 1 year (for Degree holders) or 3 years (for Diploma holders) of working experience.
  • Laboratory Assistant (Civil/Mechanical): Minimum 2 years (for Diploma holders) of working experience. Not required for Degree holders.
• Age Limit:
  • Assistant Librarian: Not more than 45 Years.
  • Laboratory Technician/Assistant: Below 40 Years.

  Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable for reserved category candidates of Gujarat origin as per government norms. S.E.B.C./S.C./S.T./EWS Male and Unreserved Women candidates get 5 years relaxation. Reserved category Women get 10 years relaxation. PwD candidates get 10 years relaxation. Other relaxations apply as per rules. The maximum age limit after all relaxations shall be 45 years.

• Other Criteria: Candidates from reserved categories must be of Gujarat origin to avail reservation benefits.

Selection Process

The selection process varies by post:

For Assistant Librarian:

• Phase 1: Written Competitive Examination (100 Marks, MCQs) – This is an elimination test.
• Phase 2: Personal Interview (100 Marks).
• Final merit list will be based on the performance in the Personal Interview only.

For Laboratory Technician & Laboratory Assistant:

• Phase 1: Written Competitive Examination (100 Marks, MCQs).
• Phase 2: Computer Proficiency Test (Practical) (50 Marks).
• Final merit list will be based on the combined score of the Written Test and Computer Proficiency Test (Total 150 Marks).

Note: There will be a negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer in the written examination.

• How to Apply: Candidates must first apply online through the GTU Samarth Portal (https://gtunt.samarth.edu.in/). After submitting the online form, they must take a printout and send it along with self-attested copies of all necessary documents via Speed Post/Registered Post to: The Registrar, Establishment Section, Gujarat Technological University, Nr. Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, Nr. Visat Three Roads, Visat Gandhinagar Highway, Chandkheda, Ahmedabad – 382 424. The envelope must be superscribed with the ‘name of applied post’.
